THE ROLE – Service Technician

We are looking for a positive, self-motivated, friendly person who is ready to join our team! 

JOB SUMMARY

The service technician is responsible for performing inspections, dayworks and sales.

 

JOB DUTIES

• Schedule and perform sprinkler, backflow sprinkler, alarm and extinguisher inspections in all areas we work in. This includes but is not limited to wet, dry, antifreeze, foam systems, fire pumps, and fm-200 inspections
• Complete inspections monthly by their due date by efficiently scheduling inspections due in a specific area at the same time, eliminating multiple trips and keeping Rapid Fire prices to our customers competitive
• Perform repairs of the deficiencies
• Ensure work complies with codes and permits
• Sell inspections at the job final testing 
• Grow area inspections numbers by returning to completed jobs and sell our service package  
• Schedule and perform Dayworks.  Work will range from putting on escutcheons to rebuilding a fire pump
• Have flexibility in your workday.  This position requires flexibility, often beginning one thing and the ability to transition into several different tasks throughout the day.
• Daily complete and submit work order sheets of work performed along with owner representative signatures stating work has been complete
• Maintain a positive attitude and work well with others
• Develop positive and ongoing relationship with customers.  Have a servant mentality with customers.  We are here to serve them.  This is our top priority
• Investigate any deficiencies found during an inspection
• Follow up on quotes
• Educate the owner on the current condition of their system and recommend any desired improvements
• Conduct owner’s training set by the Service Department and train customers on the basic operation of their system
• Present customers with an inspections contract
• Focus on expanding customer cliental on a daily basis
• Obtain new leads for new customers as well as provide quotations for inspections to new and existing customers
• Expected to be involved in the pricing approach to Inspection and Service accounts
• Responsible for fielding service calls in your area.  This includes “on call” hours which are after the normal business hours of operation 

 REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Ability to quickly learn scheduling and inspections software
• Organized and self-motivated
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
• Good communication skills, oral and written
• Hold a valid driver's license
• Willing to pass a post-offer drug test, background and reference check

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or GED

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position does require lifting of heavy objects, walking and standing for long periods of time, climbing and descending ladders/steps and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Long hours of traveling will most likely be encountered.

THE ROLE – Designer

JOB SUMMARY

Operate CAD equipment to provide complex layouts of fire sprinkler systems, detail drawings, assembly drawings, sketches and diagrams. Possesses a solid understanding of design and drafting techniques and utilizes these skills in the development of fire sprinkler layouts and systems. Apply fire protection codes and standards to the design of fire sprinkler systems, water supplies, pumps, standpipes, foam systems, and water storage tanks.

JOB SUMMARY

The Alarm Technician will install, maintain and repair life safety systems and fire alarm equipment.  This person should be a self-motivated individual, with customer service skills, strong written and verbal communications.

 

JOB DUTIES

• Mount and terminate control panels, and various electronic components.

THE ROLE – Fire Alarm Lead Technician

JOB SUMMARY

A lead technician maintains corporate equipment in accordance with business requirements, develops and monitors equipment testing schedules and delegates duties to junior lead technicians.  The position also makes decisions and solves problems, monitors processes and materials, and evaluates equipment information to ensure conformity to industry standards, trouble shooting of low voltage electrical systems and programming of panels and systems.  This person should be a self-motivated individual, with customer service skills, strong written and verbal communications and low voltage electrical back ground is a must.

 

JOB DUTIES

• Capacity to plan, manage, direct and provide highly responsible professional, administrative managerial work assisting the Fire Alarm Division Manager in the direction of the overall operations
• Lead and supervise field techs in completing assigned duties

THE ROLE - Fire Sprinkler Pipe Fitter

Fire Sprinkler Fitters specialize in the installation, repair, and maintenance of fire suppression systems.  Join our team to advance your skills and value by mastering a trade! Work full time while progressing through a registered apprenticeship program.  Advancement through the program brings pay increases in addition to taking active steps to become a Journeyman Fire Sprinkler Fitter! 

 

JOB DUTIES (include but not limited to)

• Picking and sorting of pipe, fittings and hardware associated with the building construction trades
• Cleaning and prepping sprinkler pipe, hauling pipe, fittings, and hardware to installation location
• Load and/or unloading trucks manually or with motorized lifts
• Measure, cut and groove/thread sprinkler pipe to specifications
• Cutting and drilling penetrations through walls and floors for pipe
• Inspect tools, cords and ladder/lifts as needed per Foreman’s direction
• Assist with inventory of construction materials on job sights and office/shop areas
• Maintain a clean job site that could include sweeping, picking up loose materials, cleaning and organizing the work area and equipment
• Read Blueprints for job site installation
• Driving company vehicles (½ and ¾ ton pickups)
• Climbing ladders to assist with installation of sprinkler pipe
• Compliance with any stipulations set by the General Contractor enabling onsite installation

QUALIFICATIONS

JOB SUMMARY

Operate CAD equipment to provide complex layouts of fire sprinkler systems, detail drawings, assembly drawings, sketches and diagrams. Possesses a solid understanding of design and drafting techniques and utilizes these skills in the development of fire sprinkler layouts and systems. Apply fire protection codes and standards to the design of fire sprinkler systems, water supplies, pumps, standpipes, foam systems, and water storage tanks.

JOB DUTIES

• Review construction drawings, specifications and other applicable documents to determine requirements and/or feasibility of project.
• Interacts with vendors and customers on engineering design issues. Must be able to work with customers to define and document requirements, address technical concerns, and provide project status.
• Perform tasks repetitive in nature such as sprinkler layout, drawing cleanup, and stock listing projects for material ordering
• Check design work with contract documents including layout, form, fit, function, materials, specification callouts, geometrics, dimensioning, and other output. Confers with project managers and estimating staff to determine design modifications and coordinates changes.
• Perform preliminary and advanced work in development of working layouts and final master drawings.

• Communication and attendance of weekly design and project management meetings

• Cleaning and prepping sprinkler pipe, hauling pipe, fittings, and hardware to installation location
• Load and/or unloading trucks manually or with motorized lifts
• Measure, cut and groove/thread sprinkler pipe to specifications
• Cutting and drilling penetrations through walls and floors for pipe
• Inspect tools, cords and ladder/lifts as needed per Foreman’s direction
• Assist with inventory of construction materials on job sights and office/shop areas
• Maintain a clean job site that could include sweeping, picking up loose materials, cleaning and organizing the work area and equipment
• Read Blueprints for job site installation
• Driving company vehicles (½ and ¾ ton pickups)
• Climbing ladders to assist with installation of sprinkler pipe
• Compliance with any stipulations set by the General Contractor enabling onsite installation

QUALIFICATIONS

JOB SUMMARY

The Estimator/Salesperson holds the responsibility for contracting profitable work and building relationships with new accounts as well as maintain and continuing to sell to existing accounts within the region of focus that aligns with Rapid Fire’s goals of profitability and sustainability for operations.    

 

JOB DUTIES (include but not limited to)

• Understands construction fundamentals while being able to read and comprehend construction documents.
• Perform tasks that may be repetitive such downloading documents, setting up folders, completing excel and word documents.
• Works closely with other sales staff to complete estimates efficiently and on time.
• Data entry for companywide job tracking purposes.
• Responsible for preliminary system layout and design for estimating of projects.

JOB SUMMARY

The Project Manager/Designer holds overall management responsibility for all aspects of fire protection construction projects from conception through systems functioning as intended.  Oversees or conducts design, scheduling, planning, actual construction, expediting, inspection, quality control, and total delivery of the project according to established criteria.  Responsible for tracking, forecasting, and communicating all costs, profits, and financial measures of the project.  Through coordination with the site superintendent, organize and manage all the elements involved in construction - labor, temporary and permanent materials, equipment, supplies, utilities, and time.

• Project Manage and Design all types of water-based fire sprinkler systems.
• System layout and design, ensuring compliance with local, state, and national codes and standards as well as look for value engineering opportunities
• Material buyout and product selection
• Scheduling and manpower coordination with both office and field personnel alike
• Document control, contract scope review and maintaining records of the project for both current and future use
• Communication and attendance of weekly design and project management meetings
• Cost management including identifying changes to the project scope that impact costs as well as ensure change orders and billings are submitted and paid in a timely manner
• Assist with development, suitability, and implementation of Risk Hazard Analyses
• Site survey, onsite commissioning, and owners training
• Foster strong working relationships and rapport with customers, clients, subcontractors, and colleagues

QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or other applicable degree from a technical school or college or equivalent combined with on-the-job design and PM experience. NICET certification preferred.
• Demonstrated ability with AutoCAD and/or AutoSprink design programs
• Working knowledge of fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems preferred but not required
• Self-motivated and able to fluidly handle multiple tasks and projects congruently

JOB SUMMARY

This entry level position can be a gateway to various opportunities for growth. This role partners with sales team members to deliver competent estimates for various types of projects across a wide expanse of markets. A successful candidate will be trained to analyze construction documents and operate CAD programs, to include AutoSPRINK and Bluebeam Revu, to assemble sprinkler system layouts that assist in the estimate. The Estimator is expected to gain introductory knowledge of NFPA Standards and Codes regarding Fire Sprinkler applications to be able to research and apply these codes to their estimate layouts. As skill and knowledge base grows opportunities for growth will multiply. 

 

JOB DUTIES (include but not limited to)

• Demonstrates the ability to understand construction fundamentals while being able to read, comprehend and organize construction documents.
